Sophie Baastrup Woodruff

I have a background in psychology with neuroscience, and neuropsychopharmacology.

My main research interest throughout my academic career has been major depressive disorder (MDD), with a focus on the treatment efficacy of psychedelics as rapid-acting antidepressants. More recently, I have become interested in sex differences in psychiatry, which is motivated by the long-standing gap in neuroscience resulting from the underrepresentation of female subjects in both preclinical and clinical research. In particular, I am very interested in researching the role of sex hormones and the menstrual cycle in modulating psychiatric symptoms and pharmacological response.
