Scientific interests
My research interests center on probing how adenosine signaling modulates neurotransmission, neural plasticity, as well as sleep behaviors and neurocognitive functions using caffeine. My previous work has employed structural and task‑based fMRI, receptor PET imaging, polysomnography, and neurocognitive behavioral assessments within randomized controlled trial designs. During my early postdoctoral training, I also engaged in preclinical research investigating adenosine-dopamine interactions in nonhuman primates and rodents using D1 and D2 receptor PET.
At the NRU, I will be analyzing SV2A PET data to determine the effects of time of day and to evaluate test-retest variability. Moreover, I will use NIRS to examine the effects of caffeine on brain water dynamics to elucidate the role of adenosine in sleep-dependent glymphatic activity.
