Scientific interests

My main scientific interest pertains to changes in neuronal circuits and in brains of epilepsy. Apart from histological and biochemical assays use radioligands that bind to specific targets, and relevant for transition to human imaging studies with PET.

I aim to investigate major in the following parts:

1) Identification of neurons in the brain involved in epileptogenesis

2) Spatial and temporal changes in inflammation markers in experimental tissues

3) Differences in biomarkers between responders and non-responders

4) Testing novel treatment regimens in animal models

I also focused on better understanding the mechanisms leading to drug-resistance, to investigate whether current and more novel anti-seizure medication can protect against seizures and to propose better treatments or preventing medications for people suffering from epilepsy.
